At To the Tutors, we believe that learning should never feel overwhelming, scary, or lonely. We created this service because too many students struggle, not just with schoolwork, but with confidence, anxiety, and pressure (whether peer pressure, pressure from perfectionism, etc.). As cliché as it sounds, we knew there had to be a better way.
Although we offer therapeutic tutoring, we’re not a therapy service, though we bring something just as powerful into our tutoring: understanding. Our tutors are aware of the emotional side of learning, things like stress, low self-esteem, or difficulty focusing, and gently support students through it. We use a therapeutic education approach, which means we teach with patience, empathy, and emotional awareness. It’s a mix of academic help and care for how students feel. This approach works especially well for SEMH students who:
Feel anxious about school or tests
Struggle to concentrate or stay motivated
Learn differently or need a bit more time
Have had tough experiences that affect their learning
